CSI: Crime Scene Investigation (also known as CSI: Las Vegas) is a U.S. crime drama television series, that premiered on CBS on October 6, 2000. The TV series was created by Anthony E. Zuiker and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer. The show is filmed primarily at Universal Studios .
CSI follows Las Vegas forensic scientists criminalists as they use physical evidence to solve gruesome murders in this highly graphic drama, which has inspired a host of other cop-show ‘procedurals.’ A huge ratings smash for CBS, the series mixes deduction, gritty subject matter and popular characters in its winning formula. The CBS network quickly capitalized on its hit with spin-offs CSI Miami and CSI: NY.
CSI: Miami (Crime Scene Investigation: Miami) is a U.S. police procedural T.V. series, which begain airing on 9/23/2002 on the CBS television network. The show is a spin-off of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.
The series follows a Miami forensics team led by Horatio Caine. Against a backdrop of simmering ethnic and cultural tensions, Caine’s team probes cases similar to those of their Las Vegas counterparts.
The pilot episode was first broadcast in the U.S. on 5/9/2002 as an episode of CSI and seven seasons have been aired in the United States. The 7th season is currently being broadcast in England and Ireland. The series is produced in partnership with the Canadian media company Alliance Atlantis and CBS Television Studios.
On May 19, 2009, CBS renewed CSI: Miami for an eighth season, which premiered in the United States on September 21, 2009 at 10:00 p.m. ET.
